One of the call errors we have includes both in outgoing calls and incoming calls, and we have the problem of outgoing call rings once then disconnects.

You may think you are the only one experiencing this issue, I’m telling you that you are not alone. There are several persons trying to understand the reason behind their calls disconnecting especially for a particular number.

If you are having a problem of your outgoing call rings once then disconnects for a particular contact on your mobile phone, you shouldn’t panic so much cause it simply means that the problem is not from your mobile phone or your mobile network service.

The problem is from the recipient side.

Now the question is;

Why do we have this problem, not being able to call a number as it disconnects after one ring.

I will explain that right in this article.

So let’s continue.

Why Outgoing call rings once then disconnects?

This is can be caused when the recipient you are calling blocked your number, but it can also mean that the recipient auto rejected your call or it was caused by a ring trip in the case of landlines.

Aside from this, if you happen to be disconnected by your network service provider, you are likely going to experience this type of problem making a call on your mobile phone.

But this is only when the problem of outgoing call rings once then disconnects occurs on all numbers you are calling on your mobile phone.

So I will explain more about the reasons and what you should do about it cause it can be quite annoying trying to call a person and it doesn’t go through especially if you are desperate about the call.

Let’s continue.

1. You may have been blocked

This is likely to be the culprit but only if it happens to be on a particular number or contact you are having this problem.

First, if you try to call a number on your mobile phone and all you get is outgoing call rings once then disconnects, try and call any other number on your phone and see if it will go through.

If it does then you’re safe cause the problem is not caused by your phone or your network service.

The first thing you should bear in mind is the recipient may have blocked your number. If the recipient is using a Samsung phone, all you will see trying to call the person is number busy and on iphone it wouldn’t ring but goes straight to the voicemail.

Sometimes it will ring once but redirect you straight to the voicemail and only if the recipient has a voicemail on it’s mobile phone.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

You have to use another phone number to call the person, and do not hide your number to call the person because it won’t go through.

On my samsung galaxy s21 ultra, if I block a number on my mobile phone, calls from that very person will not get to my phone even if the person hide it’s number or id to call.

This is why you have to use another phone number unknown to the recipient or the person you are trying to reach. If it is not possible for you to borrow a number from friends or family, create a free Google voice account and use the number to call the person.

If you create a Google Voice account, you will be assigned a phone number after you have successfully created your account. With the phone number given to you, you can receive or make calls, receive or send text messages using a Wi-Fi or cellular data.

Back to the question.

If you use another phone number to call the person and it goes through even the person answering the call, I’m sorry the person indeed blocked your number.

2. The recipient number is disconnected

The problem of outgoing call rings once then disconnects is only on a particular number you are trying to call, it may be that the person’s number has been disconnected by it’s service provider.

After you must have used another unknown number to call the person and same thing happened, it is a strong indication that the line may have been disconnected.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

In this type of situation, you have to send a text message to the recipient and check if the sent text message will be delivered even after the 24 hrs of sending the text message.

If after 24hrs or I will 72hrs, stop calling the number as it may have been disconnected or not available.

If you happen to have the recipient whatsapp number, Skype ID, Facebook profile, Instagram, etc you can send a message using any of the instant messaging app and see if it will go through or get a reply from the person.

3. Outgoing call rings once then disconnects caused by ring trip

outgoing call rings once then disconnects

This is the case of calling a landline and it is quite common, the phone will only ring once and suddenly disconnect.

You try it again and same thing happened, it is caused by ring trip.

Ring trip is a type of physical fault on the receiving number or outgoing call, often caused by defective wiring on the recipient side. It can be a sign of water ingress affecting the cables, or probably caused by a bad weather condition.

I’ve seen cases where people only experience ring trip when the weather condition has been poor within their area or environment.

4. The call was rejected/ number set to auto reject

There are certain phones that has the auto reject call especially on feature phones or old Samsung phones. It is quite similar to blocking a number but the recipient will see the rejected call as a missed call on it’s mobile phone.

If someone add you phone number to auto reject call feature on it’s mobile phone, the problem of outgoing call rings once then disconnects is bound to happen.

Learn more about Auto reject call and how it works.

This is how it goes.

You dialed the number and the phone ring once and immediately the call disconnects.

No matter how hard you try to call the number and even if you hide your number to call the person, it won’t go through.

So what you have to do is to use an unknown number or google voice to call the person after few hours so to prevent the person from detecting you are the one using another phone number to call back.

5. Poor network reception

This is another known causes of outgoing call rings once then disconnects on mobile phones, and it can be on the caller’s side or the recipient call.

If you can successfully call any other number on your mobile phone without having any disconnecting issues, you are very much safe cause the problem is not from your side but rather the recipient side.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

For poor network reception or coverage, I recommend you to send a text message to the person cause it has a high tendency of going through compared to when you are calling.

At the slightest of a single network signal, the text message will be delivered to the recipient.

If the problem of outgoing call rings once then disconnects occurs on all contacts or numbers you dial on your mobile phone, the problem is from your side.

The first thing you have to do is to reboot your phone and check to see if it will fix the problem.

If it doesn’t, reset your network settings and it usually helps to fix this type of network issues in a given phone. If you are using an android phone, all you have to do is to open the settings app and scroll down to about phone and open it.
