For the the past one year I have been using the Google duo majorly for video and voice call.

What did I do in order to confirm if truly both parties need Google Duo on their mobile phones.
What I did is to use the Google duo app to call three persons on different occasions, two android phones and an iPhone. The iPhone has the duo app installed while one of the Android phone doesn’t have the google duo disabled or put to a deep sleeping mode.
When i called the iphone which has the duo app and an active internet connection, the call went through along with the message I sent.
When i called the first android which has the google duo installed but no active internet connection, the call and the message didn’t go through especially the call. The reason why this happened was because there was no internet connection when I was calling the phone on duo.
The third phone is an android phone and has the google duo app disabled and also the duo app wasn’t activated.
When I tried to call the number on google duo, it only showed invite and nothing more. I couldn’t call the number on duo simply because the phone number is not on google duo, and whereas the app was disabled on the android phone.
All these is to backup my claim that both parties need Google Duo active on each respective phones in order to receive or make calls using the Google duo or to send a message.
This is to give you the proper answer to the question of do both parties need Google Duo on their phones, and the answer is yes.

What is required to use google duo
To use google on android phone and iPhone, you simply have to download and install the google duo app on your mobile phone.
On android, by default the duo is preinstalled especially on google pixel phones and Samsung phones.
Next is to have an account on the Google due using your phone number. You can also use a Google account to activate the Google duo but mostly phone number is required to activate the google duo just like whatsapp messenger.
Once you have created your account on google duo, you’re now set to use the app to make voice and video calls, and also send messages.
Kindly know that Google duo requires internet connection to work and not just the cellular network service.
To make and receive calls, send or receive messages from Google duo, you must have an active internet connection on your mobile phone. This is another thing that should come to mind when asking do both parties need Google Duo.
