How to disable google drive on android phone

This article will guide you through on how to disable google drive on android phone in a seamlessly way.

I’m sure you’re tired of using the Google drive, though I must admit that I don’t see any reason why an android user would want to disable the Google drive from its android phone.

The app is very much essential just like the Microsoft onedrive, and you can save space on your android phone by uploading some of your large files to the Google drive.

If you have already made up your mind to disable the Google drive from your android phone, this is how to go about it.

How to disable google drive on android phone

To disable google drive on android phone, kindly open the settings app on your mobile phone.

Scroll down to apps and tap to open.

Now you have to search for drive or scroll until you see it on the list. Remember, if you search Google drive you won’t see any result but if you enter drive then you will see it.

Open the drive and look below your screen, you will see the disable button below your screen. Tap on the disable button to disable the Google drive from your android phone.

You can only disable google drive on android phone if the google drive app is a system app or preinstalled on your android phone.

The reason why I started the above is because in some phones like the Samsung Galaxy phones, you cannot disable the Google but only uninstall the app. The reason being the fact that Google drive isn’t a system app or preinstalled app on samsung galaxy phones.

This is quite different if you have the google pixel smartphone.

In Google pixel phones, you can’t uninstall the google drive app but rather disable the app. Reason for this is because Google drive is a system app or built in app for all Google pixel smartphones.

As long as an app is a system app, preinstalled or built in, it cannot be uninstalled but rather you can only disable the app.

For those that the Google drive is not a system app or preinstalled on their phone, below is how to uninstall google drive from phone.

Reasons why you shouldn’t disable google drive from android phone

Google drive gives every android user or one with a Google account a maximum of 15GB free file storage for their upload.

That is to say you can upload large files from your android to the Google drive and in turn, save space on your android phone.

What I’m trying to say is one major reason not to disable google drive is because it helps to free up space on your android phone.

You can upgrade your account and get a maximum file storage of 200GB which only costs $29.99 per year or $2.99 per month and this is relatively cheap compared to others.

Another reason to use google drive on your android phone is the ability share your files using a custom link.

When you upload a file on your Google drive account, by sharing the links others or your friends can download the file through the file link.

Each file or folder in Google Drive has its own sharing link and the ability to customize who has access to it. By clicking the pencil icon, you can adjust the type of permission you give to anyone with your custom link.

These two are the major reasons not to disable google drive on android phone.

Google drive helps you to store videos, PDFs, presentations, and photos instead of having them packed in your android phone.

Google Drive lets you store files of all shapes and sizes. And you can then share these or keep them safely and privately in your Drive; the choice is yours.

Files attached to emails can also be saved straight to Drive, which means you can keep important attachments organized and right where you need them.

Can I disable Google Drive?

Yes of course, you can disable google drive from your mobile by simply using the app manager settings.

I’ve already posted the tutorial above, so kindly look up and you will see how to disable google drive on android phone.

Do I need Google Drive on my Android phone

Yes of course you need the Google drive on your android phone cause it helps to save space on your phone.

However, if you have a large internal storage or SD card or probably another cloud storage option then you don’t need to bother yourself with the google drive app.

For me, i mostly use the Google drive to store my pictures and videos, and which I can have them back any time I want by simply using the Google account on my new phone.

I also use the Google drive to store some essential and important files which the drive will preserve it more in years to come.
