Having a problem not receiving calls from a particular contact in your mobile phone, there’s a reason for that and you are not alone.
There are several reasons why you can’t receive calls from a specific number on your mobile phone, and that which I will explain to you in this article.
Why you can’t receive calls from a specific number
This can be caused by call barring, do no disturb mode, or due to call routing problem especially if call barring or do not disturb mode are not enabled in a mobile phone.
It can be quite confusing that you can’t receive calls from a specific number on your mobile phone, but can call the number.
So here are things you need to look into on both you the recipient and the caller which you can’t receive it’s calls.
1. Check if you have enabled call barring for that specify number
This is very essential and could be the reason why you can’t receive calls from a specific number on your mobile phone.
What you have to do is to open the phone app and tap on the hamburger menu. Select settings followed by supplementary services (for samsung phones) and you will see call barring.
Open call barring and make sure everything you see there is disabled and not enabled, this includes call barring on both incoming calls and outgoing calls.

2. Check your blocking list
For the fact that you can’t receive calls from a specific number on your mobile phone maybe because you have blocked the person’s phone number without knowing.
All you need to do is to check your blocking list and make sure the person’s phone number is not on the list.
On android and Samsung phone, to check if you have blocked the number on your mobile phone, simply open the person’s contact and tap on details. Right on details screen you will see if the person is blocked or not by seeing the block icon appear before the person number.
The above picture is how it shows when you block someone on your samsung phone.
To check block list on your iPhone, tap the Settings menu to open it and scroll down and tap “Phone. Under the “Call Silencing and Blocked Contacts” list, tap “Blocked Contacts” to see which contacts are lis ted.
If you happen to see the contact on your block list, kindly remove it because it is the culprit on why you can’t receive calls from a specific number on your mobile phone.

3. Call routing problem
This is one of the major causes of not being able to receive calls from a specific number on your mobile phone especially if you didn’t enable incoming barring for the contact or blocked the contact on your mobile phone.
This type of situation requires you to contact your service network provider and inquire why you are having call routing issues for a particular number on your mobile phone.
It is left for your network service to fix the problem.
4. Do not disturb mode
Do not disturb mode is another culprit though doesn’t often happen but you need to check if you have assigned that very specific number to your do not disturb mode.
This is now available on android phone and iPhone, so kindly open do not disturb and allow exceptions on all your calls or disable do not disturb.
5. Might be caused by the person
You have to ask the person if he or she blocked you on it’s mobile phone, or do not disturb mode enabled for your contact, even the outgoing call barring or redirected your number.
Why I’m saying this is because you may think the problem of you not being able receive calls from a specific number is caused from you, but it may be from the person.
How to fix can’t receive calls from a specific number
This is if the problem is from you and not the person.
1. Force restart your phone
Force restarting a phone helps to fix the problem of can’t receive calls from a specific number if the problem is caused by a software hitch, and this is applied to both android and iPhone.
To force restart your iPhone, Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the side button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.
To force restart your android phone, press and hold the power button for at least 20 seconds, and your phone will be rebooted.
2. Reset your network settings
To fix the problem of can’t receive calls from a specific number on your mobile phone, you should reset your network settings.
Please note that to reset network settings is very much different from resetting your phone, this only involves your network like mobile data, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc.
On android open the settings app and search for reset network settings and you should definitely see it.
Open the reset network settings and tap on the button to reset your android phone network settings.
This should fix the problem on why you can’t receive calls from a specific number on your mobile phone.
3. Contact your service network provider
As the reason why you can’t receive calls from a specific number maybe caused by call routing problem, it is recommended to contact your network service provider and inquire why you are having the problem.
If after everything nothing happened and the problem is still there, I recommend you to back up your phone and factory reset your phone.
But please make sure the person which you can’t receive his or her call didn’t bar your number or block your contact on it’s mobile phone.
I know why I’m saying this cause sometimes unable to receive call from a particular number maybe from the person’s phone and network service, and not your phone or your network service provider.
