In this post, I’m using the three best methods or ways on how to make a conference call on android. They include using the android call application, WhatsApp application, and lastly Skype for android.

For this tutorial, I will start with the android phone call app before proceeding to the others.

1. Using the phone call app

Using your phone call application is the number one method on how to conference call on android. It only involves you using your phone and network services to make the conference call.

Below is the process on how to make a conference call on android using your phone call application.

Open your android phone call application, locate the first number you want to call, and simply dial the number.

Immediately the first recipient picked your call, tap on the plus ➕ symbol that states “add call” and it will give you the option to add the second recipient.

As the second recipient picked the call, the first recipient will be put on hold.

To conference call on Android, tap on the icon that states merge. Immediately you tapped on the merge icon, it will start the conference call on your android phone.

After adding the second number, you can as well go ahead and add a third, fourth, and fifth number. The number of recipients to add depends on your phone settings.

This is how to conference call on android phone and I used the Samsung galaxy s9 plus to do this. But note that this works on all android smartphones.

While using this method, I didn’t notice any hitch or problem connecting with all my recipients, and the calls went on swiftly until I ended the call.

Again, I want you to know that a recipient can also add a recipient to the conference call. Adding of recipients must not only be done by the caller, but also the recipients.

However, if the caller taps on the red end call but, that’s the end of the conference call on android or mobile phones.

2. How to conference call on android using WhatsApp

This works on all android phones using the latest WhatsApp application. You can also use this tutorial to make a conference call on your iPhone and iPad or even on your computer.

To conference call on android using WhatsApp mobile application isn’t just an only voice call, but includes video conference call as well. This is why I prefer to use WhatsApp to make a conference call on android and whereas it only involves the use of WiFi or mobile data.

To get started, download the WhatsApp application from the Google play store and if you’re using the old version, kindly update to the latest version.

For audio call

Open the WhatsApp application on your android and go to the contact you want to call.

Tap on the voice call button.

As the recipient picks the call, on the top right corner of your screen with a human-like icon, tap on it to add the second recipient.

It will show add the recipient to the group call. For example, add Charles to the group chat.

Then you’ve to tap on the add button to add the second recipient to the group chat.

As the second recipient picked up its call, you’ll see two users on your group WhatsApp call and you can as well add the third and the fourth user.

WhatsApp only allows four users on their group call and that can’t be exceeded.

So this is another method on how to conference call on android using the WhatsApp group audio call. Next is using the video call group call.

Conference call on android using WhatsApp video call

All you have to do is to open your WhatsApp app and scroll down to the person you want to call. Instead of tapping on the audio call icon, tap on the video call icon.

As the recipient picked the call, you can then tap on the human-like (contact) icon located at the top right corner of your screen to add the second person.

As the second person picks up, tap on the human-like (contact) icon again to add the third person and do it again for the fourth person. And that’s it, it can’t exceed number four users.

This is the third method on how to conference call on android and I do use this to call my family.

Please note that to use WhatsApp group video call to make a conference call on android requires a strong internet connection else it will keep reconnecting.

Not only that, but the video also won’t be clear or lagging which can be so annoying.

3. Using Skype for Android

This is the third available option that I know on how to conference call on android.

Skype is one of the oldest means of making video calls on the computer, ios, and android before WhatsApp has become so popular.

To conference call on android using Skype, download Skype for Android from the Google play store and install it on your android phone.

Create your account and add contacts to your Skype account.

Now you’re ready to make a conference call on android using Skype for android.

Launch the Skype app on your android phone, and tap on the pen 🖋 icon which indicates a new chat.

Tapping on the new chat icon leads to a new window which gives you lots of options and they include;

Meet now
New group chat
New call
New moderated chat
New private conversation

As this post is concerned about how to conference call on android, you should tap a new call.

Doing this will bring out all the contacts saved in your Skype account, and it is left for you to select the contacts you want by tapping or ticking on them.

After doing this, tap on the call button and that’s it, you’re good to go with your conference call on your android smartphone.

To make a video conference call on android phone using Skype, all you need to do is to tap on the video icon on the top of your screen.

This is followed by inviting people in your Skype contacts to join in the video call. Tap on Skype Contacts to add users to the video call.

Mostly I use the WhatsApp application to make conference calls and sometimes use the android phone call app for the voice conference call.

I make use of Skype strictly for business and I must say that I enjoy it a lot more compared to the WhatsApp business app.
