Normally it doesn’t take more than 30 minutes to have your phone number connected with the rcs chat feature but in some occasion it can take up to an hour or more. But make sure you have an active internet connection and sim card or eSim in your android phone.

Once connected, it should show connected as shown on the picture below.

Remember to have an active internet connection when sending the picture in a text message on your android phone.

Once the recipient is also using the rcs chat feature and has an active internet connection, definitely the recipient will receive the text message.

And this is the latest and best way to send a picture in a text message on android phone by using the Google messages rcs chat feature.

Below is the old method using mms.

So first I will be using the default Samsung message application, and this is only available to those using the Samsung smartphone.

On Samsung Smartphones

To send a picture in a text message on an android phone (Samsung), kindly open the message application on your phone.

Tap on the new message icon to create a new message, or if you have already sent a message to the recipient previously, scroll down, and locate the message box.

Having done that which is adding the recipient, look down on where it states to enter the message. You’ll see a cross or plus icon ( ➕) simply tap on it.

Tapping on the plus icon will take you to other features that come with the message application. This is something that most android users never knew at all.

They only enter the message and click on the send icon without minding to explore other features of their phone message app.

So tap on the plus icon.

When you do so, it will bring out options that are featured in the messaging app. These options include;

  • Gallery or photos
  • Camera icon
  • Location or GPS
  • Other options

As our main focus is on how to send a picture in a text message on android, you should select the gallery or photo icon.

You can as well tap and select the camera icon if the picture you want to send was snapped using your phone camera or you want to take a shot at that very moment.

Tapping on the gallery or photo icon brings out all the photos or pictures on your Samsung smartphone.

This always starts from the recent or the newest pictures to the oldest pics in your phone.

Scroll down and having seen the picture you want to send as a text message on your android phone, simply tap on the picture.

If they are multiple (more than one) tap on all the pictures and click on done.

You’ll see that the selected media or pictures will be attached to the message box. You can as well add a text message to the message box, and after you’re done, click on the send icon.

The recipient will receive the message as it was sent to him or her. This includes both the picture(s) and the text itself.

On other Android phones

I tried using the procedure I used on my Samsung galaxy s9 plus to send a picture in a text message on an android phone which is Huawei and Xiaomi, I noticed that it wasn’t possible for me.

So what i did is to download the official Google message app for android.

However, when i downloaded and installed the application, it worked perfectly fine and just like the Samsung message app.

So for other android smartphone brands, if your phone doesn’t support  sending a picture in a text message on android, please kindly use the below guide.

First download and install the official Google message app for android.

Having done so, open the app and set it as your default message app. If you don’t do this, you can’t use the application on your android phone.

Look down on and you’ll see where it states start chat.

Simply click on the button to send a picture in a text message on android.

Typr the name of the recipient or scroll down to your contacts and select the recipient you want to send the multimedia message to.

Google message app is quite different from samsung, here you don’t have to tap or click on the plus or cross icon, but rather on the gallery icon.

Google message app for android

You’ve have successfully send a picture in a text message on android.

Please Note sending multimedia messages from your android phone to another phone isn’t for free, unless your network offers that for free.

Sending text messages can be for free or relatively cheaper, but that isn’t the case with multimedia messages. My country charge a lot when it comes to sending a picture in a text message on android, especially if the file size is big.

So it depends on your country and also your isp network provider.

Lastly, in the case that the recipient didn’t receive the multimedia message, then it is down to you not having enough credit to send the message, or poor network connection.

However, the recipient should also check his or her phone message settings and see if things are in order.

Alternative to send a picture in a text message on android

You can forget about using the message app to send a picture in a text message on android, get yourself other alternatives.

Technology have really changed and i will say that the number of persons that uses their default phone message app to send multimedia messages has reduced drastically.

What is the major reason for this?

We now have WhatsApp, telegram, Skype etc.

Smartphone users now prefer to use these social media apps to send videos, pictures or file to anyone than using the default phone message app.

All these social media apps are more flexible than the message applications we have today. For me, i prefer to use WhatsApp or Skype to send pictures or videos to anyone, unless the person isn’t making use of these social media apps.

No charges except you’re using mobile data.

The tutorial above is the best guide you will see on how to text a picture on a samsung phone or any other Android phone.
