The major difference between wifi and wifi direct is the fact that you only need wifi to browse the internet, while the wifi direct is used to transfer or share files wireless from one device to another.

Wifi direct is an upgraded Bluetooth as it offers a very good speed rate in transferring file from one phone to another. So the major difference between the two phone features is wifi only used for internet, whilst the wifi direct is to transfer files.

Is WiFi direct the same as Bluetooth?

Absolutely no. Wifi direct is different from Bluetooth as it requires the user to turn on and use the wifi before sharing file using the feature, while Bluetooth doesn’t require any wifi to work or send files to another device.

Wifi direct is very faster in sharing files compared to Bluetooth and this is why I prefer to use it in sharing files on my android phone compared to using my phone Bluetooth. I can’t even remember the last time I used my phone Bluetooth in sending files from my Samsung phone.

Honestly, the truth here is that you can’t use the wifi direct to share apps from one phone to another phone unless you want to share an apk file right from your phone internal storage.
