Absolutely no. Samsung smart doesn’t delete data from the old phone after transferring data to a new phone. The data and files will still remain in the old phone except for if the user go ahead to delete the files and data from the old phone.
Remember, I said that I use the Samsung switch app to transfer files between my two phones and not just old phone and new phone. If I want to transfer apps between my phones, I make use of the Samsung smart switch and when I’m done it doesn’t delete the apps on my sending phone.
This is the same if I’m sending contacts between my phones, it doesn’t delete the constants on my old phone, the contacts will still remain in the old phone when I’m done transferring it to my new phone.

How to use samsung smart switch to transfer data and files between two phones
Now this is very crucial and you should pay much attention especially if you’re a newbie to the Samsung smart switch.
To transfer data using the samsung smart switch, you need to first have the app on both phones. You can download and install the apps from the Google play store.
After the installation, open the app on both phones to get started.
You have two options to transfer files using the smart switch, I prefer and always use the wireless method than the USB cable.
For the USB cable, you need to have a USB connector to connect the two phones using a USB cable, while wireless only use the wifi to transfer the data.
Now let’s proceed.
Open the Samsung smart switch on both phones and tap on send data or receive data on each of the phones. You will have to tap send data on the phone sending the data and files, and receive data on the receiving phone.
On the sending phone, tap wireless or cable depending on the mode which you want to transfer the data and files. While on the receiving phone tap on galaxy/android if you’re receiving the data from an android phone or a samsung phone.
Tap on iphone/iPad if you’re receiving the data from iPhone or iPad, and finally tap on windows phone if you’re receiving the data from a windows phone. So you have to select the source of your file transfer.
When you tap on the source, tap wireless or cable depending on how you’re connected to the sending phone and proceed to the next level.
It will search for a nearby phone connected to samsung smart switch, and on the sending phone tap on accept and it will load the data on the phone. Now you’re set and read to transfer data using the samsung smart switch.
If you’re OK with all the marked items, kindly tap on the transfer button below your screen but if not, select the data and files which you wa to transfer. Again you will have to make sure that you enough memory in order to receive the data and files.
Just like I said, the Samsung smart switch can transfer accounts which includes the google account, calls and contacts, messages, apps, phone settings, home screen, secure folder, images, audio, and documents and files and lastly files from the SD card.
For example, I only want to receive apps from the sending phone. What I will do is to untick the rest options leaving apps and afterwards I will tap on the transfer button, immediately it will transfer the apps to the receiving phone.
After transferring the apps, it will also install the apps. Again if i have some apps that I want to receive, what I will do is to tap on the arrow at the end of apps to open the options like on the picture below.
It will open more options and I will select the apps which I want to receive on my phone or new phone. After selecting the apps, I will tap on done, and it will take me to the homescreen and later I will tap on the transfer button to transfer the selected apps on my phone.
This is also the same with other options like for example messages. You will see option to select messages of 1 year, six months, three months, last 2 years, last 30 years, etc.
So when you’re done selecting the options, tap on the transfer button and it will immediately transfer the data and files to the receiving phone. Wait until the files are completely transferred to the receiving phone and you can exit the app on both phones.
So this is how to use samsung smart switch to transfer data from samsung phone to samsung or any other Android phone though I’m yet try this on any other android phone. Once again remember my answer to the question of do i need a sim card in both phones to use samsung smart switch.
And as you can see, you don’t a sim card but rather a USB cable or the wifi. The smart switch will turn on the wifi automatically and also turn it off when you’re done and exit the application.
