Why do some text messages say delivered and some do not, this is one of the common questions being asked on the internet and web forums.

Text messages can be inform of sms or imessage, and these are the two things I will look into while explaining why some text messages say delivered and some do not on both android and iPhone.
Why do some text messages say delivered and some do not?
Text messages that say delivered are messages which has been successfully sent and received by the recipient, while messages that doesn’t show delivered have not been received by the recipient.
To further explain the question of why do some text messages say delivered and some do not on android and iPhone, there are certain things you need to look into and they are;
- Is this problem happening to a particular contact on your phone
- Is this happening to all contacts on your mobile phone
Now I’m starting with android phone users.
ON ANDROID
If you send a text message using the normal message app and it shows sent but you didn’t see delivered, there are things you should know about.
They include;
1. You have been blocked: This is a strong indication and the reasons why text messages will never show delivered after sending a text message to a recipient. The recipient has blocked your number and that is why the message is not going through.
I recommend you to use another number unknown to the recipient and check if the sent message will be delivered to the recipient. If it does, then be rest assured that you have been blocked by the recipient.

2. The recipient number isn’t available: This is the second reason why some text messages say delivered and some do not on android and iPhone, the recipient phone is unavailable.
This may be due to the phone is switched off or the phone is on airplane mode. In some cases if the phone is on do not disturb mode, sent text messages will not be delivered to the recipient.
3. Poor network reception: A poor network reception or coverage is another cause of why some text messages say delivered and some do not based on my experience few years ago. And the truth is some messages were successful sent and delivered, while others didn’t.
Generally, why some text messages say delivered and some do not is because delivered messages have been received by the recipient, while some that don’t say delivered haven’t been received by the recipient.
Remember, you must enable delivery report on your mobile phone to see delivery report after sending a text message on your mobile phone.
ON IPHONE
The question of why do some text messages say delivered and some do not also applies to iphone users especially in the case of sending an imessage.
Imessage will let you know when a message has been delivered and read by the recipient, this is possible with the sms or send as sms. Send as sms will let you know if the message wasn’t delivered to the recipient.
If you send an imessage to a recipient and it shows delivered, then it simply means the recipient has received your sent message. If it shows read then it means the recipient has opened or read your sent message.
However, there are cases where by the recipient turned off it’s read receipts, you will only see delivered but won’t see read.
Now going back to the question of why do some text messages say delivered and some do not based on imessage, there are certain things involved.
They are;
1. The recipient blocked you on it’s iPhone:
This is the first and foremost that will pop into your head after sending an imessage to a recipient and it didn’t show delivered even after several days, you may have been blocked by the recipient.
To confirm it, I will recommend you to use another iphone or apple ID unknown to the recipient and send an imessage. If it goes through and shows delivered, I’m sorry because it means you have been blocked by the recipient and that is why your recent imessages isn’t showing delivered.
2. The imessage isn’t available
Now you may think and conclude that the recipient has blocked your number since your sent message isn’t showing delivered, you never can’t tell because the recipient iphone or imessage may not be available.
This is why I recommend you to use another iphone to send a message and check if it will go through. But if it doesn’t then it means you haven’t been blocked by the recipient. Is either the recipient imessage is not available or the recipient phone isn’t available.

These are the two major things that will make an imessage never show delivered.
If i were you, I won’t send a message but rather call the recipient to know if things are going well because you never can’t tell.
Why do some text messages say not delivered
Text messages that doesn’t say delivered are messages that are yet to be received by the recipient on it’s mobile phone. Once the recipient receives the text message, it will show delivered.
As long as a sent text message doesn’t show delivered after you have enabled delivery report on your mobile phone, it simply means the text message haven’t been received by the recipient.
The recipient is yet to receive the sent message and it can be due to poor network reception, the recipient phone is offline, or the recipient blocked your number.
Why do some text messages say delivered?
Text messages that says delivered signifies that the recipient whom you sent the message has received the text message on it’s mobile phone. And for this to work, you must enable delivery report on your mobile phone.
Conclusion
If you’ve seen that your sent text messages didn’t show delivered, be rest assured that the recipient is yet to receive the text message on it’s mobile phone. But if it shows delivered or later shows delivered after several hours, it means the recipient has received the message.
