Do calls go straight to voicemail on airplane mode? Explained

Aside from do not disturb mode another useful feature we have in a smartphone is the airplane mode which differs from do not disturb mode in such a way that it practically makes the phone to be offline.

This isn’t the case with do not disturb mode as calls and text messages will still go through which isn’t possible when the phone is on airplane mode or the flight mode.

So the question we have for today goes by;

Do calls go straight to voicemail on airplane mode?

Yes indeed calls will go straight to voicemail on airplane mode but only if the phone user or the recipient has an active voicemail else the call will end right away.

It’s not the fact that the call will end right away but the call won’t even go through because the phone is deemed to be offline or switched off.

However, there are more you need to know about this topic especially questions related to when a phone is on airplane mode.

Lets continue.

Do calls go straight to voicemail on flight mode?

Calls will only go straight to the airplane mode or flight mode if the recipient has a voicemail enabled on it’s mobile phone else the call won’t go through as it will end right away.

Do calls go straight to voicemail on airplane mode

You have seen the answer, calls will only go straight to voicemail if the recipient you are calling has an active voicemail. If the recipient has no voicemail on it’s mobile phone, then be rest assured that the call will never go through simply because there’s no cellular network service.

Most times when a phone is switched off but has an active voicemail, calls will be sent straight to voicemail and as airplane mode is same with the phone being switched off or offline, all calls will be sent to voicemail.

Now the next will be;

What if a phone is on flight mode but has no voicemail?

Basically the call will never go through as it will end right away.

In some network carrier, what the caller will hear is “sorry the number you are calling is currently switched off call again later”. While some network providers will not give you the feedback reply as the call will end immediately.

But if the recipient has an active voicemail then be rest assured that the call will be sent straight to voicemail irrespective of the fact that the phone is on airplane mode.

Do you get missed calls after airplane mode?

You will never get a missed call on your mobile phone after you have turned off airplane mode on your mobile phone because calls never went through as your phone is deemed to be offline or switched off.

PPlease kindly note that when you enable airplane mode on your mobile phone, it is same as when you switched off your mobile phone. The only difference between the two is the fact that you can use the internet on flight mode, watch videos, listen to music, play games and do other things.

You can’t do all these things when your mobile phone is completely switched off.

The similarities between a switched off phone and flight mode is that both disable the network service from a given phone. When you enable flight mode on your mobile phone and be it iphone or android phone, the phone will be offline.

That is to say that cellular network service will be unavailable irrespective of the fact that you have a sim card in your mobile phone.

As flight mode disables network service, you can’t make or receive calls, send or receive text messages unless you use any of the instant messaging apps like the google voice, imessage, whatsapp, Skype, Facebook messenger, etc.

So please if you think you will receive missed calls after you have turned off flight mode on your mobile phone, that is not possible and wot happen because the calls never went through as your phone was offline or without a network service.

What happens when someone calls you on airplane mode iPhone?

If someone calls you on airplane mode the call will never go through but if you have an active voicemail then the call will be sent straight to voicemail.

This applies to the question of the day on do calls go straight to voicemail on airplane mode.

Remember if your phone is on airplane mode it will disconnect or disable network service and this prevents calls and text messages from entering into your phone.

Also you can’t send text messages or make calls while your phone is on airplane mode.

How to make calls while phone is on airplane mode

This might look weird to you but I’m telling you that you can easily make calls and send text messages while your phone is on airplane mode.

This can only work if you have a google voice account.

With Google voice account, you can make and receive calls, send and receive text messages but you won’t use your sim card number but rather the phone number assigned to you by Google voice. As Google voice requires internet connection, you can use Wi-Fi whilst your phone is on flight mode to make and receive calls.

But the problem is that Google voice is not applicable to all countries as it is limited to few countries especially if your location is united states.

If your phone is on airplane mode you can use any of the whatsapp, Skype, telegram, Facebook messenger, etc to make calls or the imessage to send messages. As long the app uses instant messaging service it will require the use of internet instead of cellular network service which doesn’t work when airplane mode is enabled.
