One of the best ways in charging a phone is by simply switching off the phone, there’s no doubt about that.
There are situations that may warrant to switch off the phone while charging but not always or frequently. In some number of occasions I have found myself switching off my phone while charging it.

It is quite good to switch off the phone while charging as it helps the phone to charge faster compared to when the phone is powered on.

Some of the reasons why I switch off my phone while charging the phone include the followings;
1. To prevent overheating of the phone while charging
For mobile phone users that complain that their phone overheat or gets hot when charging, you can prevent that by simply switching off the phone when charging your phone.
It really help a lot and to cool off the overheated phone.
Anytime I noticed my phone is getting unnecessary hot when charging, I don’t hesitate to switch off the phone.
2. To make the phone to charge faster
As switching off the phone makes the phone to be inactive, no apps running in the background, no internet connectivity, etc. This makes the phone ti charge faster when the phone is switched off.
This is to answer the question of is it good to switch off the phone while charging.
There’s nothing wrong in switching off the phone when charging the phone.
Aside from switching off the phone to make the phone charge faster, the airplane mode does same job though you can have the Wi-Fi turned on while on airplane mode.
These are the two major reasons to switch off the phone while charging.
Switching off the phone VS Airplane Mode which is better
For me I recommend putting the phone on airplane mode instead of completely shutting off the phone.
Don’t bother to use the Wi-Fi or cellular data and have them turned off. There’s no doubt airplane mode helps to make the phone charge faster especially if you don’t have internet connectivity on the phone.
You can have the airplane mode enabled on your mobile phone and still have apps running in the background, this is where switching off the phone is a lot better compared to putting the phone on airplane mode especially if you want your phobe to charge faster.
Is it dangerous to use phone while charging?
There’s no danger using the phone while charging though it is not commendable to charge and use the phone when the phone is very hot.
However, the phone will never explode even if the phone is extremely hot, but will only damage or ruin the battery life of the phone.
If you care about your phone battery life or the battery health, don’t charge and use your phone when the phone is hot.
Doing so will ruin the battery life and the health, and on the long run you will start to experience battery issues on your mobile phone.
Does using your phone while charging damage the battery?
Using the phone while charging it doesn’t necessarily damage the battery, but where the problem lies is charging and using the phone when the phone is very hot.
This can damage the phone battery on the long run.
I’m saying this based on my experience charging and using my phone to play online games.
Games like pubg, call of duty, fortnite, etc.
After a period of time, on charging the phone I noticed that the battery decreases instead of increasing. I started to experience slow charging which was very frustrating until I had to get a battery replacement.
Generally there’s no harm in using and charging the phone, but if the phone gets hot, kindly stop whatever you’re doing and allow the phone to charge complete.
Better still switch off the phone.

It is not okay to use the phone while charging in power bank because it will make the charging to be slow, and drain the power bank.
Remember, the phone or the power bank will never explode when using and charging the phone in the power bank unless you have a poor made power bank.
From my own experience, if you use and same time charge your phone in the power bank, it will drain the power bank way faster and your phone may not even charge complete.
So please, allow your phone to charge complete before using it if you’re using the portable charger or the power bank to charge your phone.
Do phones charge faster when turned off?
The answer is yes. Phones charge faster when turned off because there’s no apps running in the background, no internet connectivity or GPS location that consumes lots of battery in a given phone.
If you’re looking for one of the fastest way to charge a mobile phone, is by switching off the phone or maybe you can enable the airplane mode on your mobile phone.

It is very much good to switch off the phone while charging because it helps the phone to charge very fast even without the fast charging feature.
At what percentage should i charge my phone?
You should charge your phone from 15% or 20% but don’t let it go below 10% before charging your phone unless you want to ruin your phone battery health.
This applies to both iphone and android phones.
Once your phone goes below 20%, kindly plug and charge your phone.
From my experience leaving a phone to drain to zero or 5% tends to damage the phone battery health especially if on a continuous process.
That is if you constantly allow your phone to drop below 10% before charging it, it might damage or ruin your phone battery health.

Charge your iPhone from 15% and don’t let it drop to 10% before charging your iPhone.
