All that I have listed above is from my own experience charging my iphone 11.

1. Many apps running in the background

Normally when apps run in the background, it doesn’t heat up the phone or heat up the phone while the phone is charging.

However, there are apps that heats up the phone especially apps that sends tons of notifications or messages on a mobile phone.

These includes the likes of Facebook app, Instagram app, whatsapp, Skype, etc.

I noticed that Facebook app and the messenger app tends to drain my battery lot faster compared to other instant messaging apps. If I leave my Wi-Fi or mobile data, and the Facebook app and the messenger running in the background, it tends to heat up the phone.

This makes me to restrict the Facebook app and it’s messenger from running in the background until I open them.

2. The Wi-Fi and cellular data is turned on

Trying to find out on why does my iphone get hot when charging, the first and foremost you should look at is the internet which includes Wi-Fi or the cellular data.

Apart from the apps running in the background, another major thing that heats up the iPhone while charging is having internet connectivity turned on while charging the iPhone.

There are occasions the Wi-Fi or the cellular will be so strong or high to the extent it start to heats up the phone.

I started to experience this since the 4G LTE came out, and then the 5G network as well.

In most cases when I’m charging my iphone, I normally turn off the Wi-Fi or cellular data in order to prevent the iPhone from heating up, and make it to charge faster.

When you use a wrong or incompatible charger or a cable to charge your iPhone, sometimes it tends to heat up the iPhone while it is charging.

In most cases I noticed the charger will also be hot and sometimes this will affect the cable as well.

If you noticed this type of issue while charging your iPhone, kindly remove your iPhone from charging because it will damage the battery of the iPhone.

This happened to me when I used a wrong cable to charge my iPhone 6s.

The battery was damaged after few months, instead of the battery percentage to increase while charging, it decreases.

If it tends to charge to 100%, under few seconds or a minute it drastically drops down to 20% from the initial 100%.

First, I must tell you that there’s nothing wrong in using a mobile phone and same time charging the phone.

I’m fond of doing as so as any other person.

Where the problem lies is using the iPhone to play online games while charging it.

If you love playing games on your iPhone or any other mobile phone, you will noticed that online or high graphics games heats up the phone especially online games.

I’m saying this based on my experience playing high graphics online games.

Under fifteen minutes the iPhone will heats up to the entext you may think the iPhone will explode.

This was my experience playing pubg on my iPhone xs max.

At this moment the worst thing you will do is to charging the phone at same time. The phone will charge at a very slow speed rate, or the battery percentage decreases while it is charging.

Kindly turn off cellular data or Wi-Fi, allow the phone cool off before charging the iPhone.
