Is it ok to put an app to sleep on mobile? Explained

Sleeping apps, one feature that helps to stop an application from running in a phone background, now we have the question;

is it ok to put an app to sleep?

Should I put some of my apps or definitely ignore the feature as it may not necessarily be useful to me. If you don’t understand the word sleeping apps or deep sleeping apps, you won’t see the need to use this mobile feature on your phone.

If you’re using samsung phone, definitely you will see these options including put unused apps to sleep. In order to give you the best answer to the question we have here, is it ok to put an app to sleep, I will explain these features.

Is it ok to put an app to sleep

The answer is yes. It is okay to put an app to sleep cause it prevents apps from running in the phone background, which in turn, saves the phone battery life or prevent the battery from draining.

The main purpose of this phone feature is to help save the battery life of a given phone by preventing unnecessary or unused apps from running in the phone background.

For example, you have an Instagram app which you haven’t opened for about two months on your mobile phone, and the fact is that this instagram app is running in the background.

Since the Instagram app is unused on your mobile phone, it is better you put the app to sleep instead of leaving it to run in the background while you don’t open or use the app on your mobile phone.

As the instagram app is running in the background, it is also consuming the battery as well. So with this you have seen the need to put the instagram app to sleep to sleep instead of having the app running in the background.

Having answered the question of is it ok to put an app to sleep, let me further explain the three options which you will see on your samsung phone.

Put unused apps to sleep

Put unused apps to sleep simply means you should put the apps which you don’t open or rarely use on your mobile phone.

I used the instagram app as an example, and this option automatically put all your unused apps into the sleep mode. To activate this feature, all you need to do is to open the settings app and scroll down to device care.

Tap on battery, on the next page you will see app power management. Right there you will see put unused apps to sleep just like on the picture below.

So make sure to turn on the button. Afterwards all the unused apps will moved to the sleeping apps mode. Putting unused apps to sleep is the first to answer the question of is it ok to put an app to sleep. Now moving to the second.

The Sleeping apps

Sleeping apps feature prevents the app from running in the phone background, and it usually blocks the apps from receiving updates or sending notifications to the phone.

Once you add an app to the sleeping apps feature, it blocks the application from running in the background, and also stops the apps from sending messages or notifications on your mobile phone.

If you have an app which rarely use, and it keeps sending tons of notifications or messages on your mobile phone, you can decide to put the app to sleep. This also helps to save the battery life of a mobile phone and I make use of it a lot.

When you’re in need to use the app once again on your mobile phone, by opening the app removes it from the sleeping apps mode.

To put an app to sleeping apps mode, you get started by opening the settings app, followed by tapping on device care.

Tap on battery and select the app power management by tapping on it just like I mentioned above, right there you will see the sleeping apps mode.

Tap on sleeping apps to open the mode, look at the top of your screen and you will see a plus ➕ button which is actually the add button.

Tap on the plus button, it will display all the installed apps on your mobile phone. So you go ahead and select the app(s) which you want to add to the sleeping apps mode and afterwards tap on the add button to add the app(s) to the sleeping apps mode.

With this you have successfully added the apps to the sleeping apps mode and this in turn, saves your phone battery.

So is it ok to put an app to sleep?

Absolutely yes and you can put the app(s) to the sleeping apps mode on your samsung phone.

The deep sleeping apps

In a deep sleeping apps mode, the apps will never run in the background and you won’t receive updates or notifications from the app(s).

The difference between sleeping apps and deep sleeping apps is the fact that in sleeping apps mode, immediately you opened the app on your mobile phone, you have automatically removed the apps from the sleeping apps mode.

While in deep sleeping apps mode, apps added to this mode will automatically return the mode after opening and closing the app unlike in sleeping apps mode whereby the app will be open and start running in the phone background.

You should read more about the Deep sleeping apps mode and the differences with the sleeping apps mode.

For me, i prefer using this mode for facebook app, instagram app, Twitter app and all the battery consuming app. I don’t need those notifications popping on my screen always and I will see them upon opening the apps.

Deep sleeping apps justifies the answers given to the question we have here, is it ok to put an app to sleep cause it can prevents all apps that consumes lots of battery from running in the background.

Once you open the app in the deep sleep mode, the app will start running in the phone background, immediately you close the app, it will return to the deep sleeping mode and prevent the app from running in the background.

Don’t you see that putting apps to sleep is very useful and helpful to a phone user?

Of course it does and I’m using it on my samsung phone. Since using the deep sleeping apps mode on my samsung phone to prevent battery consuming apps, I always get a good battery life.

To add apps to deep sleeping apps mode, use the tutorial above but instead you will have to tap on deep sleeping apps, followed by tapping on the plus ➕ to add apps to the mode, finally tap on the add button to add the apps.

This is one of the best answer to the question of is it ok to put an app to sleep, and you have seen the need to use the sleeping apps mode on your phone.

What happens if you put an app to sleep

If you put an app to sleep in a mobile phone, the app will blocked from running in the phone background, and it won’t send notifications on the phone or receive updates.

The application will be completely put off from the phone unless the user opens the app. So immediately you added an app to the sleeping apps mode, the app will no longer run in the background and in turn prevent app from consuming the phone battery.

Aside from the sleeping apps and deep sleeping apps mode, there is apps that won’t be put to sleep on samsung, you can read up about that using the link.

I do hope to properly given the reasons it is OK to put an app to sleep on your mobile phone. I’m not sure about the other phone models but I do recommend you to use this mode on your samsung phone.
