Does your location turn off when your phone dies? Explained

On mobile, location services is one of the best way to share and track someone’s location as it is both available on android and ios.

There are certain occasions when we don’t want to be tracked or some circumstances that will prevent our location from being by those we are sharing location with.

And the bring about the question of the day.

Does your location turn off when your phone dies?

By default, location will automatically not be available when the phone dies as it requires the phone to be on, along with an active internet connection, GPS and location services in order to work properly.

However, if you have other devices like the Apple watch, Samsung or Android watch, iPad or Android tablet, etc and which are connected to your Apple ID or Google/samsung account, your location won’t turn off it any if these devices are active with an internet connection.

For example, you have the iPhone 13 pro max and and Apple watch 7 which are both connected to one apple ID. If the iPhone battery happen to die leaving the apple watch 7 to be active, your location will be available through the Apple watch.

For the fact that Apple watch has a map and a GPS, someone will still be able to see your location as long as the Apple watch is active with an internet connection.

This also goes to android phone especially Samsung phone.

On mobile phones, for you to be able to view the someone’s location you must have your phone active, GPS and location services must be enabled as well.

On both android and iPhone, you must share location with someone before the person will be able to see your location. On iPhone, location services usually update every time you try to view someone’s location and this requires internet connection.
