When i saw this question on the internet I felt the need to give a detailed explanation on this topic cause I do believe that there are quite number of persons that are looking for the accurate answer for this question.

Does changing your sim card delete your contacts?
The answer is no. Changing sim card does not delete contacts stored in a mobile phone and be it android or the iphone.

1. On Android Phone
There are many ways which a person can save contacts on android phone, and they are through;
- On Phone
- On email address
- On sim card
These three are the ways or probably the options to save a contact on android phone. For me, i prefer to save the contacts in my email account cause it will forever be in the email contact list.
I don’t need to switch a sim card in order to retrieve the contacts, all I need is to enter my email address and synchronize it with my phone, it will display all the contacts lists in my email address right inside my phone book or contact list.
Looking at this very aspect, it has nothing to do with the sim card and removing of the sim card from your phone will not delete the contacts because they are not stored in the sim card.

Saving contact in the phone – If you saved your contacts in your phone which I don’t recommend at all, removing your sim card will not delete the contacts stored inside the phone.
If you remove the sim card, the contacts will not be removed or gets deleted. Every contact will remain intact and not get deleted or removed immediately you changed the sim card.

Saving contacts in the sim card – This is where it gets interesting, and on android phone, you can save a contact or list of contacts right inside your sim card.
However, immediately you removed the sim card from your android phone, the contacts will be removed as well.

2. On iphone
By default, you cannot save contacts to sim card on iphone except for the various means or methods which I don’t really fancy at all.
On iphone, if you didn’t save your contacts on your sim card, then there’s no need to ask does changing your sim card delete your contacts cause definitely nothing will get deleted.
If you used any of the methods to save your contacts to your sim card on iPhone, upon removing the sim card, the contacts will be removed as well.
However, it still does not mean the contacts are deleted from your phone or sim card. If you insert the sim card back into the phone, you will see it in your contact list.
3. On feature phone
Feature phone only gives you the option to save contacts in both phone and the sim card. Just like android and iPhone, if you saved your contacts in your phone, changing the sim card won’t affect or remove your contacts.
If you saved the contacts in your sim card, then be rest assured that immediately you removed your sim card from your feature phone, you’re removing the contacts as well.

Will i lose my contacts with a new sim card?
The answer is no. There’s no way you will lose contact’s saved in your phone with a new sim card as long as the contacts are saved in your phone or email account.
You can move or copy the contacts from your phone to your new sim card with ease if you’re using android phone, and also on iphone thought it is quite complicated to move or copy contacts to sim card on iphone compared to android or feature phones.

What information is lost when switching sim cards?
No information will be lost while switching sim cards unless contacts are saved in the sim card then it will be removed immediately the sim card is removed from the phone.
All text messages, and call list will not removed if you removed your sim card from your mobile phone, and this is applicable to android phone and iPhone.
The only information that will be removed is your contacts, and only if the contacts are saved in the sim card. If the contacts are not saved in the sim card, the contacts won’t be removed.
