Switching of sim cards usually get some number of persons confused, with some thinking probably they will lose their data and information when they switch their sim cards.
And that is why question like this is being asked;
What information is lost when switching SIM cards?
When switching sim cards between iPhones or android phones, no information is lost and this includes call logs, text messages, contacts, etc.
Contacts may be quite different cause there is a certain situation that might remove a contact or contacts in a given phone. But all these I will explain in this article.
What information is lost when switching SIM cards in iphone or android?
No information is lost when switching SIM cards between iPhones or android phones as every information stored in the sim card and the phone will remain intact.
This is not factory resetting a phone.
I wrote this article based on my research switching sim cards between iPhones and android phones just to see what will happen afterwards, and I’m telling you that absolutely nothing happened.
You may think you will lose all the informations in your sim card or mobile phone, but I’m giving you a guranty that nothing will happen and you can try it and confirm what I’m saying.
Let me further break this down based on what is stored in a sim card that you’re afraid you might lose when switching sim cards.
Remember, you can only switch sim cards if the phones are unlocked, or the sim cards are of the same network carrier with the phones.

What you may lose if you switch sim cards
And that is;
This comes in handy for android phone users whose contacts are saved in the sim card other than the Google account or the phone itself.
If your contacts are saved in the sim card, and you remove the sim card and insert another sim card into your phone, definitely you won’t be able to see your contacts because they are saved in the sim card which you removed.
This is one of the reason why I don’t fancy saving my contacts in my sim card but rather I will save the contacts in an email account like the Gmail account.
Going back to the question once more, What information is lost when switching SIM cards and if contacts are saved in the sim card, definitely the phone will lose the contacts and they will be available in the phone.
This is only applied to contacts and doesn’t affect the call log, text message, etc.

Will call logs removed when switching SIM cards?
Call logs will remain intact and won’t be removed especially if you have the contacts saved in your email account or your mobile phone.
Where the problem of losing the call logs is whereby contacts are saved in the sim card and the sim card was removed.
When i tried the same on a xiaomi phone, the call log remained intact and some of the logs were only showing a mobile phone number instead of the names used in saving the contact.
The reason why this happened was because the contacts no longer exist in the phone immediately the sim card was removed from the phone.
This also was the case on iphones and I came to the conclusion.
Call log will remain intact even when switching sim cards between iPhones or android phones.
Will i lose my contacts if i change sim cards?
No, you won’t lose your contacts if you change your sim card but may lose the contact if they are saved in the sim card and not in the phone.
This is why it is good to move or copy contacts to the phone if they are saved in sim when trying to switch sim cards in iphones or android phones.
But if the contacts are not saved in the sim card but rather in the phone or an email account, then you should bother asking will i lose my contacts if i change sim cards because you won’t lose any of your contacts.
No information is lost when switching SIM cards as everything will remain intact except for the contacts are saved in the sim card.
If you change your sim card do you lose everything?
No, you won’t lose everything because changing sim card doesn’t mean factory resetting a mobile phone, nothing will be deleted from the phone.
Removing sim card is just like removing an sd card.
When you remove an sd card from your mobile phone, do you lose everything?
The answer is no.
This is same way the changing sim card works.
If you have contacts in the sim card, kindly copy or move them to the phone before switching or changing your sim card.
Remember, changing or switching sim cards does not delete text messages received or sent in a mobile phone. Mind you, text messages are now saved in the phone memory and not in the sim card, so removing a sim card from a mobile phone doesn’t delete the text messages in the phone.
