There’s no doubt that do not disturb mode is very essential and I found myself using it always especially when I’m at work. I can’t remember putting my phone on airplane mode unless I practically want my phone to be offline.

Do no disturb mode doesn’t block calls on android but will only redirect calls to voicemail if there’s a voicemail in the recipient android phone. If there’s no voicemail, calls will go through on do not disturb mode on android but it will be on silent.

By default, do not disturb mode silence the android phone including media. If the user has a voicemail enabled, all calls will be redirected straight to the voicemail unless the user exempted calls or a particular contact from it’s do not disturb mode.
But looking at the question once again, does do not disturb block calls? One will say simply because calls will not go through but instead will be redirected straight to the voicemail unless the recipient has no voicemail then calls will go through.

When i enabled do not disturb mode on my iPhone, I called it using my other phone and immediately the call was redirected to voicemail.
However, when I disabled my voicemail and called my iphone once again, I was surprised to see that the call didn’t go through but ended abruptly.
It only beep twice and the call was ended.
This is very different from android cause my samsung phone will allow calls to go through but it won’t ring out loud if there’s no voicemail. This is applied to all samsung phones and I can’t really say for other android phone brands.
But on my iPhone, call will never go through if there’s a do not disturb mode enabled.
Take Note: If the caller calls back again within a space of three minutes, the call will go through.

1. FaveTime: On FaceTime, calls will not go through on do not disturb mode but it the caller calls back again within five minutes, the call will go through along with the sound.

2. Whatsapp Messenger: On both whatsapp voice calls and video calls, calls will not go through if you enabled do not disturb mode on your iPhone. However, it will go through if the person calls back immediately or within three minutes.
3. Does do not disturb block calls discord? Do not disturb will block discord calls on iPhone for the first time call, but on the second call it will go through.

I gave two instances of do not disturb mode using my samsung phone and iPhone.
When i enable voicemail on both phones, calls will automatically be redirected straight to the voicemail and will never go through. However, this case is completely different when i disabled voicemail on the two phones.
If i enable do not disturb mode on my samsung phone without having an active voicemail, incoming calls will go through but it won’t ring out loud. That is to say that all notifications including calls will go through but they will be on silent.
You won’t hear your phone ring or vibrate because of the do not disturb mode. However, you can only see missed calls which indicates that someone called your line.
Even if you have your phone in front of you, you will see the incoming call but it will be on silent. That is do not disturb mode on samsung phone if there is no active voicemail enabled on the phone.
On iphone, as long as do not disturb mode is enabled calls will never go through. Either they are redirected to the voicemail or the calls will end abruptly. But if the person ccalls back within three minutes, the call will go through.
In the case of allow exceptions: When you allow exceptions for a particular contact or number of contacts on your mobile phone and be it android or iphone, calls from these contacts will go through and it will ring out loud.
