■ Start by opening the settings app and scroll down to notification, tap to open. Look closely and you will see the do not disturb feature among the options displayed to you.

As android has do not disturb mode exceptions so as iPhone has theirs as well. On iPhone, it is called ALLOWED NOTIFICATIONS and which gives you the option to allow calls to go through, messages, media and other notifications to ring aloud when do not disturb mode is enabled.
To allow notifications on iPhone when do not disturb is enabled, open the settings app and scroll down to Focus or do not disturb, or you can pull down the control panel and open do not disturb.
Once you have opened do not disturb setting, you will see ALLOWED NOTIFICATIONS option which is categorized into two;

- Apps
Kindly tap on Apps just like on the picture below.
As you have tapped on apps, on the next screen tap on the add option, scroll down to messages and tap on the message app and finally tap done. Press back and you can still add more apps to allow notifications.
Then if you have a particular contact that you would want to receive it’s calls and text messages while on do not disturb mode on your iPhone, on the ALLOWED NOTIFICATION tap on people and select the contact.
