When iMessage is not working for a certain contact on your iPhone or iPad, what could be the problem.
You can send iMessages to any other contacts on your Apple device except for this very contact or person.
This leads us to the question of the day and which is iMessage not working for one contact.
First, if you can send iMessages to any other contacts on your iPhone or Apple device, except for this very contact, you should know that the problem is not from your end but rather from the person’s side.
iMessage not working for one contact?
iMessage not working for one contact on your iPhone or Apple device can be due to the fact that the person has blocked you or the person’s iMessage is not available.
Talking about iMessage not working for one contact, there are certain things that you should look into as it will let you know if the person has blocked you or maybe iMessage is unavailable on the person’s phone.
So you happen to send messages to this very contact, the question is, how is the message and what is the color of the message?
- Is it green in color but didn’t show sent as text message.
- Is it green in color but showed sent as text message .
- Or is it blue in color and didn’t show delivered.
If iMessage is not working for one contact on your iPhone, these are what you will see and I will explain them one after the other.
1.1. Is it green in color but didn’t show sent as text message
If you send a message to the contact and it shows green color but didn’t show or state Sent as text message, then you should know that the person’s phone number is not activated or linked with iMessage.
The person may be using an android phone or a feature phone.
When sending a text message to someone and it turn green, hit on the send button and check if it will show sent as text message.
If it didn’t show sent as text message then it simply means that the person’s phone number is not linked with iMessage even if the person is using an iPhone. You have to contact the person to ask the phone used for iMessage or the person’s apple id.
Most time, some will not prefer to give out their apple id.
In this very aspect, you should bear in mind that the person didn’t block you on his phone because if the person did, you will not be able to send green text messages to the very contact.
Once you’re blocked on iMessage, bot the sms text message and the iMessage will be blocked from you.
1.2. When the text is green and showed sent as text message
Now if sending the text is was blue in color and after few minutes turns and changes to green to whicg the text was sent as green text message to person.
If the text shows Sent as text message, then it simply means that the person’s phone number is linked or activated with iMessage, but iMessage is unavailable on the person’s phone at that very moment you’re sending the messages.
Also, for this to occur, it simply means that Send as sms feature is enabled on your iPhone.
The work of Send as sms is to send iMessage as text messages if the iMessage was not delivered to the recipient after five minutes.
If you urgently need your messages to get to the recipient, send as sms when imessage is unavailable comes into the rescue especially if the recipient’s phone has no active internet connection.
This also means that you’re not blocked by the recipient since the text was sent the recipient even though it was sent as sms text message.
1.3. The text is blue in color and didn’t show delivered
This is where you should worry if the recipient has blocked you on his iPhone or iMessage.
When the message is blue in color and never showed delivered.
It may be due to the fact that you have been blocked by the person and whicg prevent your messages getting delivered to the person’s phone.
Now what you have to do is to check if you have Send as sms enabled on your iPhone. If yes and you have a texting plan or an airtime, wait for five minutes and see if the message will be delivered to the person as sms text message.
However, if it didn’t then it is likely that you have been blocked by the person.
Please kindly note that iPads don’t receive green text message messages unless they are paired with an iPhone. So if the person is using only an iPad, the text won’t turn green if iMessage is unavailable on the person’s iPad.
If iMessage is not working for one contact on your iPhone, these are what you should look out for and to confirm if you have been blocked or iMessage is unavailable.

Why can’t I iMessage someone who has an iPhone?
It may be due to iMessage being unavailable on the person’s phone or you have been blocked by the person.
For that someone is using an iPhone doesn’t neccesarily mean the person is using an iMessage, someone might have his or her iMessage disabled for a reason.
But if sending a message to someone using an iPhone and iMessage turns green and showed Sent as text message, then it means that the person’s iMessage is unavailable. Maybe the person has no active internet connection on his phone.
And send as sms is enabled on your iPhone.

To do so;
Open the settings app on your iPhone and scroll down to Messages.
Open Messages and scroll down a bit and you will see Send as sms, go ahead and turn it off on your iPhone.
Once you have done that, you won’t be able to send green text messages to someone using iMessage and iPhone on your iPhone.
How do I tell if I’m blocked on iMessage?
If the message is blue in color and never say delivered.
When you send a message to someone and it is blue in color indicating iMessage, and the text never showed delivered.
You may have been blocked by the person.
What you need to check;
1.1. When sharing location with the person
If you are sharing location with the contact on your iPhone or iMessage, check iMessage location and see if you will see the person’s location.
If the answer is no, then it means that you have been blocked by the person.
Once you’re blocked by someone on iPhone, location sharing will stop immediately on iMessage, find my phone and find my friends.

1.2. Cellular calls and facetime calls not going through
When blocked on iMessage, both cellular calls and facetime calls won’t no work until the person unblocked your number.
So you need to check to see if you can make cellular calls and facetime calls for this very contact on your iPhone.
You can hide your caller ID to call the person and see if the call will go through. If the call goes through by hiding your caller id, then it means the person indeed blocked you on his phone.
But if the person enabled Silence Unknown Callers feature on his phone, hiding your caller id won’t work as Silence Unknown Callers feature block calls with no caller id and spam calls.
And with this I come to the conclusion of the question being asked on why iMessage not working for one contact 2022. I do hope to have properly answered the question to my best knowledge and remember the problem is from the person’s phone.
