Text message is one of the means by which a person or an individual can pass a message or an information through the cellular network and the mobile phone.
In a day we can receive tons of text messages on our phone from our friends, family, loved one’s, colleagues, or even from our cellular network or third party ads.

What happens to a text message when phone is off?
When a phone is switched off, the recipient can’t receive the sent text message until the phone is active with a cellular network service.
Without an active cellular network service, you can’t receive sms text messages on your mobile phone.

When a text message is sent and the recipient phone is switched off, the text message won’t be delivered to the recipient until the phone is on and has an active cellular network.
Text messages works with cellular network and if there’s no cellular network while the phone is on, still the recipient won’t receive the text message until there’s a cellular service network on the phone.
This usually happen if the phone is on airplane mode or there’s no sim card in the phone or maybe the sim card is not working.
Once a message is sent to a phone that is switched off, the message won’t be delivered until the phone is powered on and has a cellular network. Mind you, the message won’t fail to deliver to the recipient as long as it shows sent.
This is what happens to a text message when phone is off, the message will hang until the recipient turns on the phone and it will be delivered to the recipient.
But talking about text messages, you know we have two types of text messaging on android and iPhone, and which includes
- SMS text message
- iMessage
- Rcs chat message
SMS Text Message Will never say delivered if the phone is switched off. Sms text message requires the phone to be active in order to receive and to send text messages.
If your phone is switched off and someone sent sms text message to your phone, the text won’t get delivered until your phone is active though you have a maximum number of 72 hours depending on your carrier network to receive the text message.
iMessage will require the phone to be active in order to receive iMessages. However, if the recipient apple id is connected to other Apple devices like the iPad, Mac or the Apple watch, iMessage can be delivered to any of these devices as long as they are active.
Rcs Chat Feature On Android will require the phone to be active in order to receive text messages. Rcs chat feature is similar to iMessage but you can only connect it on a single device and not multiple devices like the iMessage.
If you’re using an iPhone, bear in mind that iMessages will be sent to your other apple devices if they are connected with the same apple id on your iPhone.

Do text messages go through if phone is off?
Text messages will go through if the phone is off but will not be delivered to the recipient until the phone is powered on and has a cellular network service.
Once you send a text message but the recipient phone or phone number is not active at that very moment, you will only see sent. However, immediately the recipient phone become active the sent text message will be delivered to it’s mobile phone.
As long as the message says sent to John, or sent to Shirley, the message will be delivered to them immediately they power on their phones. However, as long as the phone stay switched off, the text messages will never be delivered to the recipient.
Asking do texts go through when phone is off, the answer is yes. The texts will go through but wont be delivered to the recipient until the phone is powered on and has a cellular network service.
If my phone is off will i receive text messages?
The answer is no. You cannot receive text messages if your phone is off or has no active cellular signal on it and even a sim card.
However, in the case of Google voice text messages you will receive the texts because it makes use of the internet and not cellular network service.
But honestly this question is a one of a kind.
How do you expect to receive a text message when your phone is off, that is one hundred percent impossible. If you’re a newbie on mobile phones, there’s no way you can receive a text messages when your mobile phone is off.

If the phone is a feature phone, you can receive alarms even if the phone is switched off.

You cannot text if your mobile phone is off, you can only text if the phone is one and functioning.
If you’re a newbie, I want you to know that you cannot use your mobile phone is the phone is off, and be it a feature phone or a smartphone. For you to enjoy your mobile phone, it must be on and working.

What happens if i turn off imessage on iphone?
When you turn off imessage on iphone, it will prevent messages from being delivered to your iPhone. That is to say you cannot receive new messages immediately you turn off imessage on iphone.
The question is;
Why would you want to turn off the imessage on your iPhone?
Is just like saying that you want to disable message app on android phone. Definitely there’s no way you will be able to receive new messages on your phone until you enable the message app, and same goes to the imessage on iphone.
Asking what happens to a text message when phone is off, and knowing fully well that if a phone is off, messages won’t be delivered is same with asking what happens if i turn off imessage on iphone cause messages won’t be delivered to the iPhone until the imessage is enabled.
What happens if i get a text while my phone is off?
While a mobile phone is off, text messages will not be delivered until the phone is powered on. Messages will be sent to the phone, but will not be delivered because the phone is off and there’s no cellular network service on the phone.
For you to receive a text message on your mobile phone, the phone must be on and has a cellular network service. Also you must not disable the message app like the imessage on your iPhone or the message app on android phone.
Do text messages get delivered if phone is off?
Kindly note that by default, text messages will never get delivered if the phone is switched off as it requires the phone to be active in order to receive text messages.
However, the likes of iMessage can receive text messages if the iPhone is switched off, but the recipient apple id is connected to other Apple devices like the iPad, Mac or the Apple watch and which they are active.
